Better Than Your Dog

Who do we trust most?

Maybe it's our parents, long-time friend, or a wise mentor. For me, oftentimes when I'm excited, mad, or just bored, I vent my feelings to my dog. He probably holds more of my secrets than anyone else! After all, he definitely can't (at least, I sure hope can't) repeat anything I say to others.

There is, however, Someone much better to converse with than your dog. You can confide in the King of Kings!

Confiding in the King

Ever since "I can remember, I would turn to God at my highest and lowest moments, and the moments in between. After all, now in Christ we may approach the throne of grace! And after talking with God, especially when I actually listen to Him, I feel so refreshed, despite whatever circumstance I may be in.

God wants us to pour out our hearts to Him.

What happens when we trust God? Psalm 62:7 mentions three things that result when we trust in God:

  1. "In God is my salvation and my glory..." When we trust God, we have assurance that we have been set free by Jesus, we are His, and that no one can take that away!

  2. "...The rock of my strength..." When we trust God, He gives us the strong foundation we need to stand firm, even when forces try to tear us down.

  3. "...And my refuge is in God." When we trust God, we also have a safe, quiet place to retreat to, despite any noisy, confusing circumstances. God is our protection, both physically and spiritually.

Pouring Out Our Hearts

Finally, verse 8 continues to say this:

"Trust in Him at all times, you people;

Pour out your heart before Him;

God is a refuge for us."

Psalm 62:8, NKJV

So next time we want to pour out our hearts, we need not content ourselves only with our furry friends, but can also eagerly come to our Heavenly Father!
