Nehemiah 6:15-16

Proverbs 16:9

9 The mind of man plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps.

Psalm 27:14

14 Wait for the LORD; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the LORD.

No one likes to wait, but have you ever wondered why? Perhaps it’s because delays show us that we are not in control. Someone or something else is calling the shots. Although we may be able to identify the immediate cause—like a traffic light or the long checkout line—ultimately the One who controls all our delays is the Lord. He is sovereign over everything in heaven and on earth; our time and schedules are in His hands.

This means that in every delay, we are actually waiting for God in some way. You might have thought that the expression “waiting upon the Lord” applies only to seeking His guidance or an answer to prayer.…

Isaiah 41:10-13

10 `Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.'

11 ``Behold, all those who are angered at you will be shamed and dishonored; Those who contend with you will be as nothing and will perish.

12 ``You will seek those who quarrel with you, but will not find them, Those who war with you will be as nothing and non-existent.

13 ``For I am the LORD your God, who upholds your right hand, Who says to you, `Do not fear, I will help you.'

At some point, everyone experiences anxiety, but the good news is that we don’t have to become imprisoned by it. Christians have tools and a Helper to break that kind of bondage.

Psalm 91:1-10

1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.

2 I will say to the LORD, ``My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust!"

3 For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper And from the deadly pestilence.

4 He will cover you with His pinions, And under His wings you may seek refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark.

5 You will not be afraid of the terror by night, Or of the arrow that flies by day;

2 Timothy 4:1-5

1 I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom:

2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.

Proverbs 9:7-12

7 He who corrects a scoffer gets dishonor for himself, And he who reproves a wicked man gets insults for himself.

9 Give instruction to a wise man and he will be still wiser, Teach a righteous man and he will increase his learning.

10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

Colossians 3:15-17

15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful.

Many Christians believe a sense of peace is a sign that they’re following God’s will. But sometimes tranquility is actually due to us feeling satisfied about a choice we have made. How can we tell the difference?

Today’s passage talks about letting “the peace of Christ rule in your hearts” (v. 15). This kind of settledness originates from Jesus. Philippians 4:10-13
