Don't you just love a kid's excitement?
This morning, one of the younger kids at our church was baptized! And that's awesome in itself. But do you know what was even cooler to me? He was ecstatic. Before service he was running all over the place, and I heard the night before he couldn't sleep. When he finally did get baptized, he smiled the whole time. After he got out of the water, he leaped down from the baptismal and got his mom all wet. Isn't it great to see that excitement for what Jesus has done?
I love the excitement kids bring to a room. Yes, some are quieter, but in general, a room full of kids bursts with energy. At our church and on KidzAblaze trips, I'm always amazed at the excitement they channel toward worshipping God and living for Jesus. Our kids' church may not know everything, but they'll ask plenty of questions and say plenty of comments about the lesson. Our kids may seem small, but they're working hard to prepare a puppet skit for an upcoming Sunday. Our kids' church may only have about 10 kids, but they often raise over a thousand dollars each year! And if you get into the bridge of "Happy Day", you'll hear them shout Jesus' name from across the church.
What if we could have that same excitement? What if we could be as excited to learn about Jesus, to live for Him, to serve at church? We're so excited, we shout Jesus' name?
"Be glad in the LORD and rejoice, you righteous; And shout for joy, all you upright in heart!" (Psalm 32:11, NKJV)
Don't be afraid to exhibit that joy and energy this week. It's always great to be excited to serve the Lord!
